Job Description

Thrive Commerce embraces the SRE philosophy. We’re looking for an experienced operations leader with strong Ruby on Rails/JS, DevOps, and automation skills to join our engineering team as a Lead Site Reliability Engineer.  You’ll take ownership of our high traffic, high availability AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service deployment which allows our suite of products to deploy and scale with minimal downtime.

Your focus will be on maintaining, troubleshooting, documenting, and expanding our infrastructure.  Initially you’ll build out our continuous deployment infrastructure, improve dashboarding and monitoring, and perform required system upgrades.

Moving forward, your focus will shift to assisting the engineering team build scalable, performant features and products through education and hands-on coding.  You’ll also keep current on industry trends and best practices.  As we expand, your experience and leadership will be leveraged to hire and manage new ops engineers.

Desired Skills & Experience

Our systems are web/mobile database applications and RESTful APIs. To ensure you hit the ground running, it’s essential that you have the following skills and experience:

 

  • 2+ years experience with a production SaaS solution
  • 4+ Years experience Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with modern web application development methodologies
  • Experience building large-scale web applications
  • Test automation tools like RSpec, JUnit, etc.
  • SQL, preferably MySQL
  • 2+ years experience supporting large-scale Ruby on Rails applications in an AWS environment (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS)
  • Automation with tools like Ansible, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins
  • BS in Computer Science, MS preferred – or equivalent experience
  • Web Application/Service coursework preferred
  • You must currently be eligible to work in the USA

Bonus Items

  • Front-end experience with EmberJS/React/AngularJS
  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Personal programming projects, active in the open-source community
  • Experience building native mobile applications
  • Google Analytics, SEO, eCommerce platform (ex. Magento) experience
  • Understanding of digital coupons, SEM, affiliate marketing, and other online marketing concepts
